The 5 Pillars of Health Every Mom Should Know 🌿

Creating a thriving mouth, mind, and body for yourself — and your family.

I See You, Mama.

If you’re here, you’re probably curious about how to create better health, more energy, and a sense of balance — not just for yourself, but for your family, too.

I see you because I’ve been you.

Just a year ago, I had my baby boy. Becoming a mom shifted everything for me — not just how I spent my days, but how I thought about my health and my role in shaping my son’s future.

Before Motherhood

Long before I was a mom, I was on a journey of self-awareness. I was active, passionate about health, and driven to learn… but behind the scenes, I struggled deeply with self-image, self-worth, and negativity.

I grew up in a stressful, non-loving environment, with divorced parents who couldn’t stand each other and a narcissistic father who left deep emotional imprints. Those experiences shaped how I viewed myself for a long time — and not in a healthy way.

I realized something powerful:

If I wanted my son to grow up in a home filled with love, encouragement, and optimism… I had to change first.

My Turning Point

I’ve always taken pride in being active and learning about health. I became a dental hygienist, a life coach, an oral microbiome coach, a certified personal trainer, and now, a myofunctional therapist.

The more I learned, the more I realized:

Most of us — and even most doctors — are missing critical pieces of the health puzzle.

Doctors are required to “stay in their lane.” But without continuing education and collaboration, they can miss signs that impact your child’s long-term health.

I learned this firsthand when my son was born.

My Son’s Story

Breastfeeding was painful for months. My son’s tongue looked heart-shaped — an early sign of a tongue tie — but my pediatrician and lactation consultant both assured me it was fine.

Months later, I noticed he was mouth breathing constantly. As a myofunctional therapist-in-training, I knew that wasn’t normal — babies are natural nose breathers.

By 10 months, I took him to a tongue-tie center an hour away. Within minutes, they confirmed what I suspected:

My son had an obvious tongue tie that should have been addressed right away.

I was frustrated. I was angry. But mostly, I was grateful I had the knowledge to recognize the signs — and to intervene before it caused lifelong challenges.

That experience lit a fire in me to educate other moms. Because here’s the truth:

If no one tells you what to look for, how can you protect your child’s health?

Why I Created the 5 Pillars of Health

I don’t want other moms to feel powerless or uninformed like I did.
I want you to have the knowledge and tools to:

  • Understand your body and your kids’ bodies

  • Recognize the early signs of dysfunction

  • Know when to seek help and how to take action

  • Create simple, lasting habits that actually work

That’s why I created my 5 Pillars of Health — a framework to help moms thrive from the inside out.

🌿 The 5 Pillars of Health

These pillars work together to support your mouth, mind, and body — and when you focus on them, everything changes:.

1. Breathe Intentionally 🌬️

Your breath affects everything — your sleep, energy, focus, and oral health.

  • Why It Matters: Mouth breathing impacts facial growth, oxygen delivery, and even brain development.

  • Quick Tip: Rest your tongue on the roof of your mouth, lips closed, and breathe gently through your nose.

2. Balance the Oral & Gut Microbiomes 🦠

Your mouth and gut are connected — what happens in one affects the other.

  • Why It Matters: Cavities, gum disease, bad breath, and even gut inflammation can stem from oral imbalance.

  • Quick Tip: Skip mouthwash and choose to floss daily instead.

3. Support Metabolic Health ⚡

How your body creates and uses energy affects your mood, hormones, and vitality.

  • Why It Matters: Poor metabolic health leads to fatigue, cravings, and weight struggles.

  • Quick Tip: Include protein with every meal, plus 3 days of strength training every week is GOLD!

4. Move With Intention 🧘‍♀️

Movement isn’t just exercise — it’s about supporting posture, breathing, and overall function.

When we sit too much or slouch, it can:

  • Collapse the chest and limit lung capacity

  • Create tension in the neck, shoulders, and back

Why It Matters:
Good posture and mobility open the chest, improve airflow, and support a strong, stable core — all of which affect how well your body functions.

Quick Tips to Try Today:

  • Get up every hour for 2 minutes if you sit a lot

  • Take 5 deep belly breaths while opening your chest

5. Protect Mental & Emotional Wellness 🧠

Your thoughts and stress levels impact your physical health more than you realize.

  • Why It Matters: Your kids learn how to value themselves by watching how you treat yourself.

  • Quick Tip: Awareness is the first step. 🌿

Start by pausing once today to check in with yourself:

    1. Name what you’re feeling.

      • “I’m overwhelmed.”

      • “I’m frustrated.”

      • “I’m calm.”

    2. Ask yourself: “Do I want to keep this feeling, or choose a different one?”

    3. Decide your next step intentionally — even if that’s just taking one deep, slow breath before moving forward.

The more we practice awareness without judgment, the more we can shift our inner state — and model emotional resilience for our kids.
